ABOUT NEW WAY COUNSELING

Why Therapy?

Life is hard. Even in the best times, things can be challenging.

Therapy is for all. Regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, past behaviors, current issues, or future worries.

Therapy is hard. Diving into the things that have kept you stuck is no easy feat. But therapy is also so very rewarding when you put the work in.

If you’re in a place of needing to move on from past hurts, struggling with current circumstances, or have anxiety over things of the future, I would love to help you find a New Way to enjoy life more.

John Jones, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I believe that everyone deserves to have a life worth living, and that we can make a choice for growth and change at any time. Therapy is not something that takes place between two points on a clock.

I've been working as a therapist for the past four years, supported by my previous ten years as a professional social worker. I have served individuals and families (children, adolescents, and adults) in community, outpatient, and residential settings. I believe that therapy is the most impactful when clients and their therapist work together, as equals, to create an environment built on authenticity. My approach to treatment is trauma informed and combines person centered cognitive-behavioral therapy with the skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation. I often seek to incorporate adventure and experiential approaches into treatment. Life is an adventure, why should therapy be any different?
